Discover Florence Nightingale’s London: A Journey through Nursing History

May 23 - 31, 2025

Dr. Susan Hellier, an award-winning educator and author, invites you to embark on a remarkable journey to England alongside fellow nurses. This unique adventure will delve into the history of modern nursing through the life and legacy of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910). Dr. Hellier will lead  you through London and the surrounding countryside, visiting iconic sites that hold profound significance for the nursing profession.

This tour offers an exceptional opportunity to connect with the roots of modern nursing by exploring Florence Nightingale's life and work. We will visit her memorials and the Florence Nightingale Museum, situated on the grounds where she founded St. Thomas’s Hospital and the Nightingale Training School for Nurses.

Although Florence Nightingale was offered interment in Westminster Abbey, she chose instead to be buried with her family near her childhood home in rural southern England. We will honor her legacy by visiting her gravesite and the 13th-century medieval church, St. Margaret, in Hampshire, England.

In addition, we will see the iconic sites of London such as The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and high tea at the fabulous 18th Century Fortnum and Mason department store. A visit to rural England will round out this exceptional trip to England.

Join us for a unique trip to England that blends visits to iconic tourist sites with a special focus on Florence Nightingale's history and enduring impact, offering a deeply personal and professional experience.
